You don’t have to be world champion to get your hands on Michelin MotoGP tire technology. The new Pilot® Power uses a rubber mix that was originally developed for MotoGP racing, and a tread pattern that covers less than 12% of the tire’s surface. The result is a maximum lean angle of 50.6 degrees on dry pavement and 41.9 degrees in the wet, achieved with a stock sportbike. How did we do it? When your test riders are winning on 230-horsepower MotoGP bikes, you learn a few things about performance.
The Michelin Pilot Power tires are some of the finest most versitile motorcycle tires ever produced! Well suited to trackdays, street riding, canyon riding and even racing. We have staff members who are able to turn competitive race times on these tires week in and week out, awesome grip to the wear indicators. The Pilot Powers are unaffected by heat cycles with incredible traction in both wet and dry conditions. Even with the release of the new 2ct the Pilot Power is still the correct tire for most applications, especially on large displacement bikes.
On Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires, the center of the tread is capable of withstanding high speeds, sudden acceleration and braking, and other demanding riding conditions. The outer edges of the tread come into use at maximum lean angles. Their rubber compound is 20% softer than the center tread, to provide optimal grip at lower speeds and thus delivering outstanding traction when cornering. *Dual-compound MotoGp racing technology for the road *51.2º lean angle in the dry and 43º in the wet: a new benchmark for a hypersport tire** *The responsive handling of a race tire *Progressive feel and feedback at full lean *20% softer compound on the tread shoulders* *22% on the rear tire.
The Michelin Pilot Power 2ct tires perform very similar to the Pilot Powers. The handling is excellent and grip is tremendous, just like the Pilot Power. We feel this will be an excellent tire for canyon/street rding as well as the correct choice for some trackday applications. For trackdays we feel strongly the Pilot Powers will still be the best choice for many, especially on the rear of the larger displacement bikes. We suggest a Pilot Power rear and a Pilot Power 2ct front combo as a trackday combo for the big bikes or for 600 riders who like to exit the turns hard on the gas. This will offer better life and performance in our opinion. Overall we really like the new 2ct, excellent performance.
The new Michelin® Power Race makes extensive use of technology developed for Grand Prix racing, where Michelin has won 13 straight world championships. It puts MotoGP technology in the hands of racers and track-day riders.
TWO-COMPOUND TECHNOLOGY developed in cooperation with leading MotoGP riders, including 2004 World Champion Valentino Rossi.
SEMI-SLICK TREAD PATTERN to maximize the contact patch especially at full lean, and increase stability of the tread. Tread grooves are oriented to evacuate water from the contact patch in damp track conditions. These are the real deal race tires, current date codes, not the standard Power Race available through dealers. We have three compounds available for the front and three for the rear as well. With the DOT race tires it is very beneficial to call us before you order if you have not used these before. We will assist you in choosing the proper tires and advise you on the correct tire pressures to run.
The dual compound Power Race series are simply spectacular! The fronts offer excellent grip, stable handling and are very predictable. The different compounds help to tune the performance of your bike to your riding style and the track you are riding. The rears are all excellent performers, very predictable and all offer tremendous grip. We prefer the softer rear on 600cc and smaller bikes, the more durable compounds on the larger 750cc and up. The drive off the corner with the Power Race is mind blowing and they are very easy to manage as they wear.
The Michelin 1800 series race slicks are the ultimate track day and club racing slicks. These tires are designed for excellent grip and longevity with a competitive price. If you are looking to run slicks this is a great tire choice. The rear tire works on both 5.5 and 6" rims. The front is similar to a 120/70/17
We also offer Michelin 16.5" slicks!!!
The profile of the front allows for nimble handling and absolutely incredible grip at any lean angle. If your mind can think it this front tire can do it, absolutely love these tires! The performance of this set of tires can be hard to put into words, you really need to try them yourself to believe it. Quick turn in, stable under braking, great feel for trail braking, strong rear grip to drive off the corner and stable at speed as well. The performance of the 1800's make these the favorite tires for many of our staffers and customers. The price we offer these tires at makes them a real value. These are current model, fresh tires. No smoke, no mirrors, just real performance. The only real draw back is they can not be ridden on in the rain.
